| Ahhhh the Atomium! what can one say about the ultra spaceage
Atomium? it wasn't nearly as shiny as this postcard would have you
believe. it was built in the 1950s for a world's fair (i forget what
year--i'm sorry belgium). the inside is filled with, well not "filled
with" -- that would lead one to believe that there was lots of stuff
to look at -- and that wasn't the case at all! it was mostly old Tin
Tin and other french comics with the Atomium in the background
or as some prop from outer space! luckily for me these funny French
comics were translated into Dutch for me--OH wait a second--i don't
read Dutch... i only read english! silly me. i don't know what they
were about. on the plus side the 40-year old windows were stained
just enough so that i could barely see anything out of them. so i
wasn't able to get the fabulous view of Mini-Europe, the super fun
theme park with all of europe's most famous monuments reproduced at
miniature golf prop sizes! À bientôt!
