| so i'm wandering down Harlemmerstraat in the Jordaan area
looking for something to eat and i happen upon a little letterpress
print shop called Typique run by a really nice guy named René
Treumann. he's let me wander aorund his downstairs studio and look
at all the cliché and type blocks. he has the most amazing
collection i've ever seen -- including a complete Cooper Black character
set in many sizes. he is now my official type hero! he also makes
wonderful illustrations using a variety of ornamental border and iconic
symbols as well as lovely illustrations. when i amsterdam be sure
to seek him out and buy a bunch of postcards (1 nfl) and perhaps some
illustrations out of his portfolio which he will gladly show (and
patiently translate the dutch to english for you).
